When my son Ori rolled into an Ecology program in Kibbutz Lotan, Israel, it was a perfect opportunity to visit the Middle East again. As you may recall, 4 years ago, in July-August of 2004, Perry (my older son) and I had an amazing tour which is well documented in:

This time it would take place in late February and March.
Here Are The Main Players:

Unfortunately, there was an Israeli inteligence warning against crossing the border to Egypt (Sinai), and thus this beautiful teritory became off limits.
We thought of the following general plan:
February:
22 - Friday. Landing in Israel (be-ezrat Ha-Shem).
22 - Meet Pini and Milman in the Shuri Buri restaurant in
Herzelia-Pituah.
23-24 - Saturday-Tuesday. Going to Lotan to visit Ori.
26 - Tuesday. Ori finish his studies in Lotan
27 - Wednesday. A possible stay in Eilat.
28 - Thursday. Entering Jordan, ~ 8 AM
28 - Wadi Ram - 3 hour Jeep ride.
28 - Arriving Wadi Mousa/Petra
29 - Friday/Saturday (March 1st). Touring Petra
March:
01 - Saturday. Petra.
If Yair joins us with his car, then:
02 - Sunday. Back to Eilat.
Without Yair: Returning to Israel from Petra, through Jerico

Day 1
Our lovely guide noted that Petra is not only one of the World 7 wonders
but it was voted as the #3 wonder on the list. This in itself is a great
achievment, although there are, apprently many lists.
